Becoming healthy....

Dear Ones,

This is going to be raw, transparent and/or sometimes down right nitty gritty.  It has come to my attention on more than one occasion that I need to get serious and do something about the state of my health -or lack thereof.

My blog will become a daily accountability for me and hopefully a source of encouragement for you, my readers.

Let me begin by introducing myself and allowing you a bit of backstory:

I will be 55 years old next week, I have three birth children, three spouses of said grown children and four grandchildren. No husband, splendidly single here in Southern California.  I work part time outside the home and I also am a live in caregiver to my elderly auntie who is a constant source of love and light in my life.  (insert big grin here)

I am a Christian, but not religious, there is a difference.  I attend church sporadically due to my schedule and energy levels.  I love Jesus and study God's Word regularly.  I will be posting scriptures and inspirational thoughts along the way so if that offends you, I advise you to delete me now.

Recently, my doctor found some anomalies in my blood work.  Coupled with a few persistent symptoms, he has referred me to a couple of specialists.  This is my "wake up" call.  I'm too young to be old.  Drastic measures are warranted.  I have worked in a pharmacy and also a couple of nursing homes.  I do not want to end up taking handfuls of pills every day to survive. I want to be healthy.

God created my body, He knit me together in my mother's womb.  I believe that would qualify Him to know what foods are good for me (and everybody) to eat. Since He also created the plants and animals, I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track here.

So, with that in mind, I have decided to eat food grown from a plant and not created IN a plant.  That is my "rule of thumb" anyway.  Yes, God said we could eat meat, fish, poultry and such.  I'm not going all vegan here.

After much research, I am choosing to loosely follow the Daniel Plan written by Rick Warren.  This goes along with my own personal beliefs as well as it is Biblical based.  Please feel free to follow the link to learn more.

Fruits, veggies, nuts, whole grains (as long as the blood work says I'm not allergic) lots of clean water, lean meats and fish.  Herbal teas and water to drink.  That's the plan.  Please pray for me.

Questions?  Comments or concerns?  Leave a reply below please.

God bless all here
